The Curse of Being "Too Smart"

Why you are stuck in "Tutorial Hell" and the shift to Just-In-Time learning.

You are hiding behind books.

I see this pattern in smart people constantly.

You want to start a business, so you buy 5 books on "Strategy." You want to get fit, so you watch 10 hours of YouTube videos on "optimal protein synthesis." You want to write, so you read a course on "copywriting structure."

It feels like work. It feels productive. You get a dopamine hit because you are "learning."

But you are not working. You are procrastinating.

Welcome to "Tutorial Hell."

In coding, "Tutorial Hell" is when a developer keeps watching tutorials but never actually builds an app because they are terrified of the blank screen.

You are doing the same thing.

You are using education as a shield to protect yourself from the fear of execution.

The "Just-In-Case" Trap

School taught you to learn "Just In Case."

  • "Learn calculus, just in case you need it."

  • "Memorize this date, just in case it’s on the test."

This is a disaster for the real world. You end up hoarding information you can’t use. The information rots in your brain before you ever apply it.

Action creates questions. Information provides answers.

If you consume information before you have the problem, you are wasting your time.

You need to flip the equation.
